Humour, determination, resilience, patience, courage .... When we help someone who ‘needs’ us, their strength is revealed.

With an online network, caregivers and family members can share up-to-date plan changes, maintain an online calendar, and assign tasks. As a result, everyone’s responsibilities can be more clearly defined.

A person who is vulnerable, isolated, ill, or experiencing one of life’s challenges can benefit both physically and emotionally from the support of a strong network. All involved – the individual, friends, family, caregivers and supporting organizations – have the same goal: for the person to live in an optimal situation, make authentic choices, and experience good health and personal satisfaction.

An individual’s support system reflects his or her medical, social and emotional situation, and may change over time depending upon needs. Caregivers – both formal and informal – can assist with a variety of day-to-day tasks. They may monitor medical conditions and medications; assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and feeding; help with transportation and errands; and facilitate social outings and personal interests. Individuals may also receive support from organizations. Organizations serving specific populations often provide information, advocacy and other services to members and their families.

Successful caregiving depends on effective communication – whether among multiple caregivers caring for an individual or between an individual’s family and an organization.

Now, communication can be centralized and facilitated with online support network programs such as Tyze. People who care for and about someone can be invited to join an ongoing online network centered around that individual. Without the need for face-to-face meetings, these people can easily and efficiently share clinical, personal, or logistical information, discuss issues that arise, enumerate tasks, and make necessary decisions.
